Renting a BMW M5 Touring: 717 hp and five seats
25.08.2026 · 6 min read
A day with a BMW M5 Touring in Poland costs 1,500–2,500 zł, with a deposit of 10,000–20,000 zł. It makes 717 hp from a hybrid V8, covers around 25 km on electricity alone and weighs over 2.4 tonnes. The boot holds 500 litres, or 1,630 with the seats down.
The new M5 Touring solves the same problem as the RS6 — fast, with the family — but solves it differently. Instead of lightness it bets on hybrid: 717 hp, around 25 km of electric range and over 2.4 tonnes.
The numbers
| Item | Figure |
|---|---|
| One day | 1,500–2,500 zł |
| Deposit | 10,000–20,000 zł |
| Power | 717 hp |
| 0–100 km/h | around 3.6 s |
| Weight | over 2,400 kg |
| Boot | 500 l / 1,630 l |
| Electric range | around 25 km |

The hybrid is a decision here, not an extra
On a short hire the battery is closer to a nuisance: nobody charges a car they are handing back in two days. The M5 then drives like an ordinary V8 carrying an extra 200 kg — and drinks 12–16 l/100 km.
Over a week or more it inverts. Twenty-five kilometres covers most days in a city, and charging from a socket in a garage costs a few złoty. That is when the hybrid begins to make sense.
Ask the rental firm about the cable. Cars handed over without a charger happen more often than they should.
The weight is audible
Two point four tonnes is not a catalogue figure — it is something you feel under braking and in a tight car park. The M5 Touring is fast in a straight line and still surprisingly agile, but it does not pretend to be light. Anyone expecting coupé sensations will be disappointed; anyone who needs a fast family car will not.
What to watch
- A mileage cap of 150–250 km a day — lower than on cheaper cars, because every extra kilometre genuinely costs the fleet money.
- 285/295 tyres — a set costs about what a week of the rental does.
- A doubled deposit for younger drivers. In this class the usual line is 30 years old and five years of licence.
Frequently asked
1,500–2,500 zł — the top shelf of Polish rental, comparable with exotics.
10,000–20,000 zł. High, because the value of the car and the cost of any repair are equally high.
With a charged battery, almost nothing in town. Without one, and on a motorway, 12–16 l/100 km — considerably more if driven quickly.
The M5 is a hybrid and carries more than 200 kg extra. It has more power; the RS6 is lighter and simpler to live with on a short hire.
